Specifying a pallet by sector.

Why can a foundry use a pallet a bakery would reject?

Because odour, staining and moisture do not affect the structural grade, but they matter a great deal in a food plant. A pallet that smells of solvent is fine under a casting and wrong under food, so food use needs a sort on top of the structural grade.

My sector is not one of the six. Can I still ask?
