Service 05 — Repair

Pallet repair and remanufactured pallets.

A broken deck board does not make a pallet scrap. Repair replaces the damaged parts; remanufacturing builds pallets from recovered boards. Partner suppliers handle both, and both usually cost less than new.

What a good repair looks like

Full-length boards, matched thickness

A good repair replaces a damaged deck board with a full-length board of the same thickness. Short boards butted together, or boards of a different thickness, weaken the pallet and can catch on conveyors.

A cracked stringer can be strengthened with a companion stringer nailed alongside it. That is a sound repair, but many buyers grade those pallets B, because racked loads test stringer repairs first.

Heat-treated export pallets need treated replacement wood. A marked pallet repaired with untreated boards is no longer compliant. See ISPM-15 explained.
