Used pallets in Pittsburgh, PA 185 miles down I-70 east to I-79.

We run every other week, wednesday into Pittsburgh from our Columbus yard. That fixed pattern is what keeps the delivered price competitive — the truck is already going.

The lane

What we know about Pittsburgh.

Pittsburgh runs biweekly east on I-70. The terrain makes the run slower than the mileage suggests, and we price accordingly rather than pretending it is a two-hour lane.

Energy services work in the region generates a specific kind of demand: heavy, concentrated loads on rough sites, which means heavy-deck expendable stock rather than Grade A. It is closer in profile to our [construction](/industries/construction) customers than to distribution.

The warehouse growth along I-79 north toward Cranberry has changed the picture over the last few years, and there is now enough conventional distribution demand to justify the lane on its own.

Local economy

Metals and specialty manufacturing, energy services across the Marcellus region, healthcare and a fast-growing warehouse cluster along I-79.

What we send there

Heavy-deck expendable stock, GMA for the I-79 distribution cluster.
